Book Sleeve
Photoshop//Handcarving//Photography//InDesign
This book sleeve concept was built around the fact that the journey along the Pacific Crest Trail challenged, changed, and left its mark on the author, Cheryl Strayed; similar to how when people carve into trees, it initially damages the tree, but eventually the tree continues on, permanently marked by the actions of others. I also thought that the textures and colors would make for a bold and viisually interesting book cover that would draw viewers in.
**This tree trunk was already dead when I borrowed it from a friend to carve into. I do not condone carving into live trees as it is harmful to them**
